Crews started construction on a new multifamily apartment complex in South Hill. Corliss Management Group of Sumner and Schuur Brothers Construction of Puyallup are in charge of the project. The plan is to create five buildings with 120 units total, the Puget Sound Business Journal reported. There will be one-, two- and three-bedroom units, according to the Corliss website. Construction is expected to finish by June 2024.
Corliss spokesperson Cyd Hatch wrote in an email the apartment complex will have a recreation center. The cost to rent the units have yet to be determined, but they plan on offering “market-rate units,” she said. This project is just the first part of a plan to build 1,000 multifamily units total, the Puget Sound Business Journal reported. The 6.5-acre apartment complex will be near the end of the cul-de-sac on 179th Street Court East, just southeast of the Glacier Run Apartments at 12020 Sunrise Blvd. E.
The project is part of the ongoing Sunrise master-planned community. The community, which is near Sunrise Boulevard and 122nd Avenue East, totals 1,467 acres.
The community will have a mix of single-family homes, apartments, townhomes and condominiums, according to Corliss Management Group’s website. There will be bicycle paths and neighborhood parks. It will also have a view of Mount Rainier. There are plans to build a 10-acre town center in the community, according to the developer’s website. The town center may have a mix of office, retail, financial and restaurant spaces. Preparation for the master-planned community began in 1983. As of August 2021, about 76 percent or 3,601 units had been built or were underway, according to Pierce County’s website.
“Sunrise is an upscale Puyallup community where people live, work and play,” Corliss Management Group wrote on its website.
